Andy Oliveri & the Mountaineers explore all angles of their collective musical heritage on new single ‘Ohio’, taken from debut album ‘Call Them Brothers’. The single will be released on istartedthefire Records on 20th October 2017 and is preceded by a music video directed by London filmmaker Vitapoesia, who has worked with the band on previous singles to bring to life the band’s passion for both aural and visual art.
‘Ohio’ is the third single to be released from the collective and follows both ‘Sky Candy Apple’ and the critically acclaimed single ‘Where Wild Flowers Grow Fondly’ which was featured on Mark Radcliffe (BBC6Music), Steve Lamacq (BBC6Music) and John Kennedy (Radio X) upon release in January 2017. Since the release of debut album in March 2017, the band have completed a successful UK headline tour and made various festival appearances.
Every project begins with an idea, for Oliveri and the band this was ‘Ohio’. The first track written as an acoustic demo was swiftly scrapped and imposed with the rule that its arrangement will not include any guitars. This shift in breaking down the walls of their creative freedom would mean the band could explore every avenue, allowing the record to take shape around them, finding a fulfilling destination at the end of each one.
