Mamas Gun Share New Single: ‘I Need A Win’

“Mamas Gun have constructed blistering albums, releases that place them at the forefront of 21st century soul” – Clash
“A blend of funk and deep soul that really gets you moving” – EARMILK

Mamas Gun are today sharing their new single ‘I Need A Win’, the third to be taken from their forthcoming release, Golden Days which is due out on May 18, 2018 via Candelion. Following in the wake of previous singles, ‘Strangers On A Street’ and the Lauren Laverne and R2-supported, ‘London Girls’, this latest offering arrives in line with the album pre-order – link here. Alongside the likes of Curtis Harding and Charles Bradley, Mamas Gun, who have spawned Top 10 singles on four different continents, have assisted in spearheading 21st century soul. In support of the release the band will head on a full UK tour with dates to be announced shortly.

With its ice-cool Motown aesthetics that borrow in part from greats such as Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson, ‘I Need A Win’ de
monstrates frontman, Andy Platts’ ability to juxtapose warm musical tapestries with poetics that suggest something much more plaintive. Speaking about the track, Platts says: “Lyrically it deals with the wildfire chaos following a cataclysmic life event, it’s rooted in something much deeper than the well-travelled themes of love/romance/heartbreak though, pivoting between the poles of salvation-seeking hope and infinite despair.”

As well as previous support slots with the likes of Beverley Knight and Raphael Saadiq, Mamas Gun have performed at global and domestic music festivals including WOMAD, Secret Garden Party, Wilderness and Greenroom. Following a sold-out re-appearance to the UK live circuit earlier this month at The Social, London, Mamas Gun will head on a full UK tour around the release of the album (dates TBC).
