WILL VARLEY – Announces a brand new UK tour for Autumn 2018

WIll Varley pic 2018.png

WILL VARLEY is very pleased to announce he will be touring the UK again this autumn, with the majority of the shows taking place in seated theatres and venues.

Varley celebrated the release of his 5th studio album, “Spirit of Minnie”, with a packed out show at Shepherd’s Bush Empire in February. He then spent the first part of this year playing his new album live around the world, touring extensively in the US, appearing at SXSW festival in Texas and selling out venues across the UK, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy.

Described recently by Donovan as “The next generation” and counting the likes of Billy Bragg, Tim Minchin and Frank Turner amongst his fans, it seems the rambling songwriter who cut his teeth haunting the open mics of south London is finally getting the attention he deserves. Don’t miss him across the UK this autumn.

CENTURY THIRTEEN ANNOUNCE ALBUM, 13th July

CENTURY THIRTEEN‘s own blend of Alternative Rock fueled with Punk Pop takes from a range of sources but predominately pulls from Blink-182, New Found Glory, and  Green Day. The Glaswegian punks set loose their new self-titled album on Friday 13th July, through all platforms. The four-piece have also just released a new track, Not My Placehttps://youtu.be/6SsWWPHXjko.

Since their formation in 2014, the Scottish tunesters have worked exceptionally hard on their craft. Aided by a strong DIY work ethic, the quartet have already released four well-received EPs, and have built a steady fanbase throughout Scotland which has been encouraged by a series of high octane and energetic live performances.

The punk rockers have just completed work on their new self-titled album, which arrives this July.  The record is stuffed from back to front with bangers. From their forthcoming single, A Million Times, to the newly released, Not My Place – https://youtu.be/6SsWWPHXjko  , the album is the band’s best work to date.

ORCHARDS Announce New EP ‘Losers/Lovers’ + ‘Luv You 2’ Video

unnamed-7.jpg

Ahead of a support slot with TTNG tonight (27th April), Brighton-based alt-pop quartet ORCHARDS are delighted to announce that their new EP Losers/Lovers will be released on 6th July 2018 via Big Scary Monsters Records.

To celebrate the news, the band have released a typically colourful new video for the EPs lead single ‘Luv You 2’ which premiered at Noisey yesterday.

Watch and share ‘Luv You 2’ here: https://youtu.be/PM4aU4Kh42Y

Speaking to Noisey about the video, front woman Lucy Evers said: “The story behind the lyrics is all about how it’s totally healthy to feel rejection or sadness, and about ultimately finding the power within yourself to say ‘fuck it, i don’t care what you think of me, I know I’m amazing’, so when working on the video (with our awesome videographer Dan Chase, who we collaborated with on our previous three videos) we wanted to play off that.

“Each location represents being stuck in the same mindset despite no longer being in the situation that put you there, and it takes being reminded of why you’re in that head space in the first place (e.g. the flowers being handed to me) to come to the realisation that I no longer care about what that person thought of me. The throwing of the flowers at the end of the video symbolises me throwing away the fucks I used to give!”

The band have just finished a run of support dates with Minnesota trio Tiny Moving Parts across the EU and UK, with a swathe of festival appearances already confirmed for the summer and further live dates TBA (see below for listings).

New EP Losers/Lovers is released 6th July via Big Scary Monsters Records

THE DUNTS Release New Single ‘Birds & The Beez’

unnamed-5.jpg

Self-dubbed “council-punk” band The Dunts are pleased to announce that their new single ‘Birds and the Beez’ has been released today via all good digital retailers.

Listen and share here: https://soundcloud.com/thedunts/birds-and-the-beez/s-5y1jI

The four-piece have a run of UK tour dates coming up throughout May, with a special single launch show in London on 26th April 2018 at The Lock Tavern (see below for tour dates).

Commenting on the track, the band said: “Honestly, it’s kinda written about talking to yourself when you’re hitting a bad one, but lyrically it’s also meant to seem like you’re having a conversation with someone else. The birds are the ones chirping outside when you’ve been up until 8am and the beez are the intended remedy.”

The Dunts were born from an increasingly fertile working class creative environment in the Scottish city of Glasgow. Formed by members Rab, Kyle, Div and Colin, alongside many of their young friends in bands on the underground circuit, The Dunts honed themselves at their spiritual home of The Priory Bar, a venue which has helped to foster a community of young, hungry bands who regularly kick about with each other. From this vital platform, they’ve managed to form their own army of fanatics around a bustling hub of musical culture amongst the high-pressure, low-opportunity climate of austerity.
unnamed-4.jpg

Their sound often swings from chaotic, anarchic basement punk and psych, through to more mainstream-leaning forays into melodic indie, infusing The Sex Pistols and The Clash’s London-era punk with the dynamic output of contemporary post-punk and garage bands.

The quartet have been together for just one short year and have rapidly become notorious for packing out and subsequently devastating live venues throughout Glasgow (The Priory, Stereo, Broadcast, King Tuts). In Nov 2017 they released their debut EP Not Working Is Class which was produced by Johnny Madden (Baby Strange) and Chris Marshall (7 West Studios) to growing support from Spotify.

Championed by Huw Stephens and Vic Galloway on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio Scotland respectively, the band was also Huw’s BBC Introducing pick of the week featuring the song ‘Dimitri’ on every BBC Intro show across the UK, with further airplay support coming from John Kennedy over at Radio X and Harrison Stock at Roundhouse Radio.

With the arrival of 2018 and a local fan base that’s just about ready to boil over, there’s an air of excitement around what The Dunts can achieve, and just how far reaching their message could be.

COLD YEARS Release Brand New Single ‘Endless’ Out Now

Hot off the heels of their recently released Northern Blue EP (out now on Homebound Records), Aberdeen blue-collar punk rock band COLD YEARS are pleased to reveal their brand new single ‘Endless’.

unnamed-3.jpg

Listen and share ‘Endless’ here: https://soundcloud.com/coldyears/endless

Written and recorded exclusively for their ‘Amped Up’ feature in the last issue of Kerrang! Magazine, the single has already received airplay from the BBC Radio One Rock Show.

The news comes following a hugely successful run of German tour dates for the band, including a support slot with Tiny Moving Parts, and they appear at the Heavy Music Awards 2018 launch night at Gorilla in Manchester tonight, 25th April, alongside Milestones (UK) and Loathe.

“So the thing about records is that by the time your record comes out, the reality is that you’re already working on another one,” said front man Ross Gordon speaking to Kerrang! “The time-frame between hearing masters for the first time and records coming out can be 3-6 months minimum. I write constantly. Like all the time. I think taking a break is just an excuse for having writer’s block. So for us it’s important to just keep writing all the time.”

The band are currently working on material for the follow-up release to Northern Blue, with ‘Endless’ serving as a precursor to the direction the new material is taking, as Gordon continues to explain: “When Kerrang! approached us for the feature we had to finish it, record it and get it all mixed and mastered within 7 days. We all work jobs so it was a lot of late nights, between rehearsing for tour and playing the AECC in Aberdeen for the Brewdog Annual Conference as well so it was real stressful, but also really fun.”

Mixed and mastered once more by Neil Kennedy, the man behind the enormous sound of their Northern Blue EP, it’s a bold new direction for the band who are keen to flex their musical muscles and show there’s much more to them than they’ve shown to date.

[Neil] is incredible,” enthuses Gordon “He just gives us the sound we all have in our heads. Louis [Craighead, bass] produced it all and without him we would have been so screwed. He’s such a natural, and it’s awesome to have a producer/engineer/best friend play in a band with you. From a lyrical perspective a lot has happened to me in the past 2 years since we wrote Northern Blue, and to be honest I wanted that to come through in the music.  I’m in such a good place now and I think this song is actually pretty happy for a change!”

‘Endless’ is out now via all good digital retailers

COLD YEARS Live Dates:

25.04.18 – Gorilla – Manchester (Heavy Music Awards 2018 Launch Night)
