Pop-Punks You Know The Drill are pleased to announce details of their forthcoming sophomore EP. The 5 tracker ‘Selfhood’ will see release via Scylla Records on 22nd June 2018, with vocalist Benji Yapp saying: “Selfhood is a word which describes the quality that makes up a person and just being aware and proud of who you are, which really resonated with us as we wrote this EP. We tried not let ourselves be limited by the “pop-punk” label and write without worrying what people were going to think, which definitely ended up benefitting the record.”Explaining the concept behind the artwork, Yapp states: “The main focal point, the dandelion, is just there looking all bright and pretty, but then there’s the lawnmower approaching in the background, teasing the impending doom to come. The brightness directly contrasts with the dark tale being told, reinforcing our key message: standing tall and proud, facing adversity head on and taking pride in being.”
A first taste of ‘Selfhood’ has also been unveiled in the form of single ‘Snake Eyes’, which premiered on the Radio 1 Rock Show last night. With the video available to view here, the track featuring guest vocals from Joey Fleming of In Her Own Words.
The quartet followed-up 2016’s debut EP ‘Losing Streak’ with plenty of touring, including their first UK headliner and a Slam Dunk festival slot. When it came to ‘Selfhood’, the band opted to work with a fine array: ROAM’s Alex Adam for pre-production; recording between Nightcrawl Studio with Richard Dack and George Daly at The Ranch; mixing by Seb Barlow at Celestial; mastering by Grant Berry at Fader. The EP sees Astley supporting Yapp on vocals for the first time, bringing a new dynamic and complementing their new found maturity. A must for fans of ROAM, State Champs and New Found Glory, the band declare: “Selfhood has a little more direction, but at the same time it varies in sound more between songs. This EP feels like the first time we have properly found our sound and felt happy with who we are as a band. This record fills us with confidence that we can do anything we try and we hope everyone else feels the same way when they hear it.”

Essex band Sun Arcana showcase their softer side today, releasing Acoustic Sessions – a three-track digital EP featuring stripped back versions of singles from their debut EP As I Take A Breath… (KKKK – Kerrang!, 7/10 – Rock Sound) out now on Easy Life Records (Arcane Roots, Lower Than Atlantis, Waterparks). The EP was recorded live at London’s Soup Studios.
To mark the occasion, the band have released a stripped back video for ‘Oxygen‘.
“I think for any band to record an acoustic session comes a slight feeling of insecurity because you’re vulnerable
” explains drummer Ryan Daniels, “We wanted to challenge ourselves. We wanted to show people that we can not only write, but we can also play – and I think that as a band, those are two strong elements that you need to, and should want to, showcase to people
Ryan continues “Unlike our studIo EP, ‘As I Take A Breath’, we were all tracking live in the same room for this record – which any musician knows adds a whole new level of pressure to your performance. We all had to be on top of our game for this one and I really think we pulled it off. Oh, and not to mention the fact that our takes were being filmed as well… all shot in one take, with no cuts or edits”

Having already amassed nearly 3 million streams on Spotify with upbeat indie bangers ‘Paper Kiss’ and ‘Irresistible’ – Brighton based five piece Island Club return with yet another typically slick offering ‘Submarine’.The group have swiftly established themselves as certifiable ones to watch with their melodic comparisons to Fickle Friends, Sundara Karma and LANY.
CHECK OUT ‘SUBMARINE’ HERE:
Ahead of their upcoming EP being released through LAB Records (Martin Luke Brown, KYKO, Marsicans) on July 13th, Island Club come through with their latest single ‘Submarine’ – a sparkling, disco-infused indie hit. Offering the kind of melodic synthed-out hooks that has garnered the attention of such tastemakers as CLASH MAGAZINE and DORK MAGAZINE, Island Club continue to establish themselves as the jewel in the crown of Brighton’s emerging talent.
Speaking on the track, the band state: “Submarine is about someone you’re close to having to move away to pursue a higher responsibility. You’re then thrown into a situation where you have no choice but to learn how to cope without them, but at the same time have to accept and understand their decision.”

Surfing back into earshot with a seriously infectious second single DAME JEAN are back to have the last laugh with: “Joke’s On You”.
WATCH THE VIDEO HERE
The follow-up to their head swivelling debut track ‘Wasted Love’ shows Dame Jean are no one-trick pony. Souped-up on gasoline powered guitar-lines and boasting a chorus customised to leave scorch marks across your skull, “Joke’s On You” is another prime piece of garage-punk panache from theBath-based outfit.
Here and then gone in less than 180 seconds, “Jokes On You” is a fresh and devious new number from the band; a silver-tongued quip of a song that splits long before you can clock the punchline and will surely have you begging for a replay.
Filmed at their recent single launch show at The Bell venue in Bath, the video for “Joke’s On You”, finds the band dolled up to the nines and performing to a gaggle of glitter queens moshing with wild abandon at what appears to be one sordid soiree.
Talking about the new track and video, Dame Jean frontman Sammy Crocker says:
“Joke’s on you is a frenzied surf ditty about the fearless confidence that comes after being broken and using that to drive you in spite of anything or anyone. It’s also an excuse to make a lot of very loud noises and scream about swamp monsters between sickly pop hooks.
We always have so much fun playing this live that it only made sense to capture that in our video. You can see our beautiful sweet queens all glammed up at one of our shows and the freaky celebrations that occurred afterwards.”
Having earned themselves a billing at this year’s Camden Rocks festival on the strength of their electric live performances alone, not to mention early media praise from Vive Le Rock who dubbed the band as “Jean genies!” for their magical first release and Dork Magazine who noted their irresistible skill for “uber-catchy guitar-pop that fizzes with attitude” – 2018 is already shaping up nicely for Dame Jean.
But it’s not just praise from festival promoters and the media the band seek. Hoping to create as genuine a community with their fans by engaging as personally and organically as possible, Dame Jean deliberately veto Facebook. Long before the recent scandals that have shamed the social media giant, Dame Jean have always believed a privately owned website should not hold such prominence in how we all engage with music today. So, find the band yourself, not on Facebook.

Sunderland rock band BOY JUMPS SHIP
are back with their biggest and most ambitious single to date ‘Fashion’.
Vocalist Si explains “‘Fashion’ is about not conforming to the social pressures and stereotypes that are thrown at us today, particularly via social media. A lot of younger people are given the impression that everyone’s life is idealistic, and therefore feel pressured to fit in and confirm to what they are shown is the ‘right way’”
Their bold and anthemic new tune was written in Iceland when the band opted for a change of scenery, gatecrashing their bassist, Jonny Rob’s modelling shoot trip. The track was then recorded Berlin’s Jazzanova Studios (Lenny Kravitz, Jason Derulo, Lorde
) with producer Fish.
Si continues, ”We went into this recording process wanting to take more risks and push ourselves into new territories. It’s about being true to yourself no matter what, by following the things you are truly passionate about. It’s a positive message about finding your own place in it all, even if it means stepping into the unknown”.
Hailing from the North-East of England, working class lads, BOY JUMPS SHIP
have gained a reputation for their energetic, passionate and exuberant live performances up and down the country and around Europe.
After some huge live dates with Don Broco in Europe, the band are set to take the UK by storm, announcing a run of UK headline dates for later this year.
